Based on the above self-initiated illustration that I drew of 'The Snow Queen', Purple Pomegranate Press commissioned me to do the entire picture book of the same title, with the similar direction & art style. Please scroll to see my interpretations of the scenes & characters. Enjoy! :)

Many years ago, in a snowy land far away, a cruel goblin lived and made a magic mirror. One day, the magic mirror fell, and it shattered into a million-billion splinters of glass.
Gerda and Kay on the balcony.
Gerda looking at a beautiful white frost-covered window.
Kay seeing The Snow Queen for the first time.
The splinter of the Goblin's mirror suddenly pierced Kay's heart. From that moment, everything beautiful and good became bad and ugly, and the splinter in Kay's heart turned it into a lump of ice.
Kay playing with his sledge when he suddenly meet The Snow Queen again.
The Snow Queen approaches Kay with her sleigh and bring Kay along with her.
They flew over forests and mountains, over seas and lakes and arrived at The Snow Queen's icy palace.
Gerda missed Kay very much and goes out searching for Kay. She climbed in a boat and got drifted away down the river to a large garden with cherry trees and meet an old lady.
The old lady let Gerda eat as many as she liked, while she brushed her hair with a golden brush.
Gerda then meet a prince & a princess and they helped Gerda into the carriage to continue to search for Kay.
Gerda then run into a forest and meet the robber girl, who has a pet reindeer.
The robber girl help Gerda, lending her the reindeer to continue to search for Kay.
At the Ice Palace, Kay is now blue & cold. His heart is cold because his heart is a lump of ice now and he has no feeling. The Snow Queen asks Kay to spell the word 'LOVE' with the splinters of ice. If he could do it, she will let him go & gives him anything that he wants.
At the moment, Gerda manages to find the Ice Palace and stepped into the hall. When Kay looks at Gerda, he cries so much that the glass splinter swam out of his eye. Then eventually they made the four letter 'LOVE'.
Kay is now free from the ice splinters, and they escaped from the Ice Palace together, and everything was just like before.
